Description Microinsurance has gone through two significant phases and is now entering a third, driven by digital platforms, embedded insurance, and cross-benefits from insurers moving towards simple, small-ticket products. The speakers will discuss these three waves of microinsurance and the evolution of distribution channels through these phases of development. They will focus on the current wave that is being driven by technology and share some successful case studies and opportunities for mainstream insurers to explore the microinsurance opportunity.

    Indira works with the MicroInsurance Centre at Milliman (MIC@M) as a Microinsurance Specialist. She is based in Singapore and implements microinsurance projects in emerging markets across the world. She has spent over 15 years in microinsurance, life, health and general insurance in Kenya, Singapore and India. Indira has successfully led multi-functional teams to digitalize sales and operations. She has set up new channels and managed strategic partnerships. Her interest lies in helping build innovative business models that improve access to risk management solutions for the low-income customer segment.

    Queenie calls herself an “actuary without borders” – a passionate actuary working in global development and inclusive insurance. She works with the MicroInsurance Centre at Milliman (MIC@M) as a Microinsurance Specialist. She is based in Melbourne and works across all emerging markets. Inspired to make insurance accessible to all, Queenie has previously worked with the Impact Insurance Facility of the United Nation’s International Labour Organization across countries like Kenya, Togo, China and Philippines etc. She is an Australian-qualified actuary with over 10 years of experience working in consulting and has been working within the microinsurance innovation space in the past few years. Queenie was recently given the “40 under 40: most influential Asian-Australian Awards
