Synopsis: As the insurance industry is evolving into a more data driven landscape, there is an increased adoption of machine learning techniques in the more advanced regions. In this session, the speakers will discuss some commonly used machine learning techniques and how they can be applied for insurance pricing and analytics. It aims to compare and contrast these commonly used techniques to better guide actuaries on deciding and applying them to gain greater insights on their business.  It also includes a discussion on the global trends of adopting machine learning for insurance pricing and analytics.

    Bing Kun is a Director in the general insurance practice of Willis Towers Watson and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. His work experiences include leading reserve valuations, pricing, IFRS 17, M&A valuation, RBC development and predictive analytics projects across South East Asia. He is also currently the Certifying/Appointed Actuary for several general insurers and reinsurers across Singapore and Malaysia.

    Ooi Jin Sheng is a Senior Consultant at Willis Towers Watson and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He has over 10 years of experience in the general insurance industry across South East Asia. He has been involved in a broad range of general insurance actuarial projects and specialises in product and pricing.

    Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, Jin Sheng was the Pricing Actuary at MSIG Malaysia where he led the pricing team in preparation for detariffication.
